Apple may be the world’s ‘most valuable’ company, a leader of the world’s ‘fastest growing industry’, with a phenomenally compensated chief executive. The Apple Store, which employs about 30,000 of Apple’s 43,000 employees in the United States, may be ‘a retail phenomenon renowned for impeccable design, deft service and spectacular revenues’ but most of these employees see little of that wealth.
